Boulderfest is an annual bouldering festival held at Urban Climb’s landmark West End Boulder Hall in Brisbane on the first weekend of August. This social competition brings together Australia’s climbing community across competitive, social, and team formats, ending with a thrilling finals event. Boulderfest celebrates climbing as both a sport and a lifestyle, showcasing Urban Climb’s world-class routesetting while fostering creativity, inclusivity, and a strong sense of belonging for climbers and spectators of all abilities.
 

Climbing Categories & Formats
You should really read the climbing handbook. :---) for a detailed overview of everything Boulderfest.

  • Competitive → top 6 climbs, with consideration to attempts on those. For a chance at finals qualifications and those wanting to challenge themselves.
  • Social → top 6 climbs, simply top or flash (a top on your first attempt). For climbing with an emphasis on social activations.
  • Teams of 2-4 only → your team’s top 12 climbs total, split evenly among you. Pairs = top 6 climbs each, trios = top 4 each, quartets = top 3 each. For those wanting to dress up and climb together with mates!

 

On the Day

Registration opens 1 hour before your round starts. Briefing starts 15 minutes before the round starts. Once the round starts, you'll have 2 hours to climb and score. Based on your feedback…

  1. We have added an additional competitive round

  2. Reduced total number of participants per round to ensure everyone has a bit more space to get on climbs.

  3. Simplified social and team formats and brought back social leaderboards. 

 

Other stuff

Volunteering applications and finals tickets will have their own releases later this year. Active Urban Climb members can use their unique barcode for a discount during general sale.
