Formed in 2024 by a bunch of old mates from bands such as Red Giant, Shadow Transmitter, Botswana, S.I.T.H and Dark Temple, J. Whitehead & The Dirty Realists plays dirtybluesycountryrockstuff for your earholes.
A Whale Called Phoenix
Upon sharing some cheese and wine the conversation steered into esotericism and soon after A Whale Called Phoenix told the cat, whose name was ‘Prosco’, that “We should do something constructive with our spare time”. Prosco agreed and that night they went to bed with music in their ears!!
AWCP is doused in a 70’s SoCal vibes with their music described as coming from somewhere where the desert meets the sea.
The Gems
Opening the show are the 'The Gems'. Infectious, melodious songs inspired by 70's rock n' roll and 80's FM pop music.
After two cracking releases this year, The Gems have played a steady run of shows throughout Melbourne with a fresh sound that can’t be forgotten. The lumbering garage rock, jangly guitars and harmonic vocals will leave you wanting more!
