Post-rock Naarm instrumental darlings Badinage hit the Bergy Bandroom for the long-awaited launch of their second album Banter. Badinage deliver a unique Garage Lounge sound that blends elements of psychedelia, smoky jazz, lazy grunge and rock opera, drawing inspiration from the early guitar musings of Jimi Hendrix and Peter Green as well as post-rock groups such as Dirty Three, Mogwai and Sigur Rós, with a healthy nod to Pink Floyd along the way. The rare combination of guitar, electric cello and drums allows Badinage to explore a vast dynamic range from quiet ambient tunes to epic widescreen rock and everything in between.

The first Badinage show for 2026 will feature tracks from the new album Banter as well as old favourites from their debut EP Meander and first album Once Upon a Time. All releases were recorded at Behind the Beat Records and produced by Phill Calvert (Birthday Party, Psychedelic Furs, Blue Ruin).
The Garage Lounge sound is like nothing you’ve heard before; come on down and check it out.

With support from Yarraville rockers The Thongs, a band that feels like a good pair of double pluggers—wear them, they feel good, sink your toes into them.
