Perth trio Ghost Care have traded in their familiar sun-soaked summer sound for 3 minutes and 20 seconds of grunge, grit and black leather in ‘Part Time Living’. In an Alex Turner-esque pivot, Ghost Care showcase their versatility as musicians, tapping into grunge-tinged grooves that imbue the single with palpable power.
This punchier, darker and unbridled energy allows Ghost Care to get more experimental, showcasing their newfound comfort in their sound and their ability to meld meticulous harmonies. The drum solo plays delicately with tension and release whilst an expansive grungy guitar weaves in between the expressive percussion. Nestled in between the muted fuzz of Beau's vocals the sprinkle of sizzling futuristic synths firmly root this song in the contemporary. It’s fresh and engaging, and is further proof that Ghost Care can explore and experiment without losing a grip on what makes them unique.
