Jade Yee-Smith is a 21-year-old alt-rock artist from Sydney, fusing 90s grunge and shoegaze textures with the energy of modern alt-pop. Her songwriting is emotionally honest and unafraid — songs about love as dangerous and addictive, about refusing to be made small, about the messy in-between of young womanhood, where vulnerability and defiance sit in the same line and softness still bites back.
A recent graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Jade is building a body of work with ARIA-winning producer Alex Burnett (Hockey Dad, Thelma Plum). Drawing on a lineage that runs from old Paramore and Beabadoobee through to Momma, Wisp and Softcult, her sound is nostalgic in reference but firmly future-facing — a nod to the past without ever being caught up in looking back.
Backed by her five-piece band, Jade is playing across Sydney and building a reputation for an explosive, sweaty, loud-as-hell live show — packed floors, no barricades, girls in the mosh. It's loud, communal, and hard to leave. Her audience is growing in real time on TikTok and Instagram ahead of her debut single, due September 2026.
