These workshops are located on Quay Street outside Rockhampton Museum of Art.

Rockhampton River Festival is excited to present this year’s Arts Program, inviting locals to take part in a range of creatively curated workshops in the Artist Collective Zone.

No matter the level of artistic ability, these workshops will give participants a hands-on outlet for creativity and expression.

Workshops include:

Ceramic Wind Chime Painting & Assembly Workshop: Ceramic wind chime painting and assembling classes where you will have an assortment of ceramic items to choose from which are already fired to bisque. You will be able to paint them with acrylic paint and make your own personally styled wind chime ready to take home. Suitable for 15 years and over.

Wispy Lady Portraits with Emma Ward: Working with recycled and collaged materials, paints, pencils and crayons you will create a 'wispy lady' style portrait, approximately A3 in size. Suitable for adults.

Recycled Tin Etching with Wild Mount Morgan Clay: Enjoy a sustainable etching workshop using recycled tin where you will take home a framed tin etching you have made. Skills such as mark making, tonal techniques and bird/ flora sketching will be a focus. Suitable for all ages. Children must be supervised.

Weaving with Waste Coiled Basket Workshop with Stir and Stitch Pty Ltd: We are taking creative action against waste using fabric remnants, old clothing, used denim, rope, bailing twine, old computer cords and even plastic bread bags! This beginner-friendly class is the perfect introduction to basket making, with no prior experience needed. Amanda will guide you through the weaving process as you learn a new, very addictive skill. Relax into this meditative process and finish the class with a very cute, useful and decorative coiled small basket to take home. Suitable for kids (12 years +) and adults

Earring Art Workshop with Arco Iris Interiors: You will learn the relaxing and fun patterns featured in Mexican Talavera pottery and take home your own earrings. Suitable for adults.

Glass Art with A Little Bit of Lovely Glass: You will create a glass cutting and design a small glass piece that will stand in a little wooden stand. The created artworks will go back to the artist’s studio to fuse and deliver back to Rockhampton post-festival. Suitable for all ages.

Brush Brushes with Emma Ward: Enjoy making and creating 'Brush brushes' from scavenged natural objects such as twigs, feathers and flowers to create loose, abstracted paintings with an emphasis on mark. You will create a finished artwork with an organic and natural finish. Suitable for adults.

Entry to Rockhampton River Festival is FREE. The Artist Collective Workshops are ticketed workshops.
