The Firebolts
The Firebolts are a group that formed as a quartet last year, and have been performing around Adelaide at multiple venues such as Hals Hall, Mothervine, The Grace Emily and the Wheatsheaf. For this gig they will unveil some new originals inspired by the many Funk/Fusion artists who have come before and pushed the music forward, these new compositions combine infectious grooves, dynamic improvisation, and an explosive energy that the group is known for, resulting in a thrilling live experience. For this performance, The Firebolts will perform as a quintet, featuring Paolo Guttilla (Tenor Saxophone), Kallan Francis (Guitar), James Ho (Bass), Jack Barton (Drums) and joining them for the first time Edmund Black (Piano)
The JT Sextet is a small jazz ensemble that has cemented itself in the Adelaide jazz scene despite being relatively newly formed (2025). Formed by the bandleader - Johnny Turner - to record music for his debut album titled “The Journey to Come”, the JT Sextet has performed twice at COMA, as well as once at Ern Malley, and once for an album launch for at Hal’s Hall. The group is comprised of 6 members that are active jazz musicians, composers, and educators - Johnny Turner (saxophones), Oliver Farnan (trombone), Hugo Evans (guitar), Edmund Black (piano), Daniel Cavallaro (upright bass), and Jackson Mack (drums). These musicians all share a love of creative original jazz music, and are hence super excited to perform a set based in the jazz-fusion genre, supporting the amazing Firebolts!
