The 4th Annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival
The 4th Annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival announces lineup.
The Wickham Park Hotel will again host the annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival on Saturday, 26 January 2019.
In partnership with Murray's Brewery, The Annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival has become one of Newcastle’s most loved days of live music. Its relaxed, family friendly atmosphere has seen the event has become a favourite for both local music lovers and the musicians that have taken to its stage.
The festival has always offered a diverse lineup of live music, and this year is no exception. Featuring some of the country’s most loved blues musicians and the best of Newcastle, The 4th Annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival is arguably it’s most exciting to date.
Sydney’s Chase the Sun head the lineup announcement. Featuring Jan Rynsaardt, one of Australia’s best blues guitarists, Chase The Sun infuse their take on the blues with loud guitar, blazing hard funk and a cranking 70’s southern rock feel.
Fresh on the back of his latest release, Buddy Knox will bring his distinctly original style to The 4th Annual Newcastle Blues & Roots Festival in 2019. Buddy is loving every moment of his long-standing desire to head up his own band, and we can’t wait to see them take to the stage in January.
Janis Joplin and Ben Harper’s love-child’. Is one way to describe the music of Cass Eagar and The Velvet Rope. Their mix of raw blues, husky soul and lighthearted ditties have eared the band a reputation of being a “must see” on any lineup they land on.
The local lineup, including Anyerin Drury, Helena Kitley & The Illustrators will again be joined by one of Newcastle’s longest standing bunch of jammers - Merewether Fats Blues Band. If their past festival appearance are anything to go by, you won’t want to miss their set in 2019. You never know who you might see take to the stage.
