SLOW GRIND FEVER #118
Bar Open (Fitzroy, VIC)
Saturday, 27 June 2026 9:00 pm
Sat June 27 we invite you back to the smokey dreamland that is Slow Grind Fever for an evening of finger snapping rhythm 'n' blues, smoochy sweet soul, jazzy popcorn, sultry slow-funk burners and uncategorizable moody melters, all sizzling off of antique discs. We play the slowest, sultriest, slinkiest, spookiest, sleaziest, sweetest, swinginest old records we can find, and people dance real slow in a haze of smoke and dim red light. It's a good time.
Joining your host Richie1250 this month we have DJs Nate Dogg and Jim De La Harpe - *PLUS* as a teaser for the launch of her sultry new single the following weekend at Howler, Ella Thompson will be performing it live AND blessing us with a set of her favourite slow jams.
SLOW GRIND FEVER #118 ('52-'72 EDITION)
DJs Richie1250, Nate Dogg, Jim DLH, Ella Thompson (singing and DJ)
Sat Jun 27 at BAR OPEN (317 Brunswick St, Fitzroy)
9pm-230am, $15 (CASH ONLY FOR DOOR CHARGE BUT EFTPOS AVAILABLE FOR BUYING DRINKS AT THE BAR)
NOTES:
- The door charge is CASH ONLY
- There will be a smoke machine going all night and it will get very smokey. The smoke is non-toxic but if you ain't into smoke machines this might not be the party for you...
- The dancefloor at Slow Grind Fever is for dancing. If you need to use your phone or have a proper conversation, please do it over by the bar or go outside and get some fresh air. (We don't mind you taking a quick photo or video or saying hello to your friends, but standing in the middle of the dancefloor looking down at your phone or talking loudly is poor Slow Grind etiquette and distracts people trying to focus on the music)
- Slow Grind Fever is not specifically a partnered dancing event. Some people dance with a partner, some with a group of friends, some alone with their eyes closed. You can do it how you wanna.
- The vibe of the night is very hazy and sultry, but the vibe is also about having good manners. Don't be all up in someone's personal space if they aren't inviting you.
- To avoid random late night drunks who may not understand this, we stop letting new people in at 1:30. If you are going to turn up after 1:30, the password to get in is LITTLE WILLIE JOHN
