Joel Leggett | EP Tour

Australian singer-songwriter Joel Leggett returns with What They Said, a deeply intimate new EP inspired by the conversations, struggles and experiences of the people closest to him. 

What They Said is a collection of songs born from conversations with friends navigating relationship breakdowns, mental health struggles and some of the more difficult moments life can bring. Rather than simply telling his own story, Leggett found himself listening to the stories of the people around him, and turning those conversations into songs about empathy, vulnerability, heartbreak, connection and being there for someone when they need it most. 

The result is an honest and emotionally driven collection that feels personal without being exclusive. Across four original songs and a carefully chosen cover, What They Said explores the things people say when life gets complicated, and the things that sometimes remain unspoken. 

The EP was recorded in Pete Murray’s personal studio with producer Manning Allen-Scott, where the songs came together with an unusual sense of spontaneity. Many of the vocals were recorded in a single take, capturing the rawness and immediacy of the performances. 

“There was a bit of magic in that room. The songs just seemed to come together really quickly, and a lot of the vocals were recorded in one take. It felt like we were capturing the songs rather than trying to force them into something.” 

What They Said follows Joel’s fourth studio album, Love Game, and continues a career built around honest songwriting, strong live performances and a genuine connection with audiences. 

With over 20 million Spotify streams across his catalogue and a history of touring and supporting artists including Pete Murray, Alex Lloyd, You Am I, San Cisco, Ziggy Alberts, The Dreggs, Pacific Avenue, The Terrys, Kim Churchill and The Rions, Leggett has established himself as an independent Australian artist with a growing audience both at home and internationally. 

WHAT THEY SAID TOUR 

To celebrate the release of What They Said, Joel Leggett will take the EP on the road with shows across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, including appearances at the Central Coast Lighthouse Festival, as well as headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. 

The tour will bring the intimate songs of What They Said to the stage while also drawing from Leggett’s broader catalogue, including songs from his acclaimed independent releases.
