2nd Avenue with support from Ed Reed
2ND Avenue is an indie folk rock group from Melbourne bringing passionate, emo-centric vibes inspired by the location of a home studio where long-time friends connected to follow their musical dreams. Christian and Jules met in university in the late 90s and bonded over a shared love of India, Maton guitars, and 60s folk music. After jamming together on and off for over twenty years, exploring various musical avenues and projects, they formed 2ND Avenue to bring their mature, often dark, cynical, and nostalgic indie rock tunes to the world. Adding to the mix is Julia’s warm and generous strumming on acoustic guitar, Dave’s steady and diverse beats and Vicki’s moody tones. Musical influences include The National, Liz Phair, Patty Smith, U2, Hiss Golden Messenger, Luna, and of course, Neil Young. Expect catchy guitar-driven choruses, thick beats, and a lyrical palate that reflects the wisdom and pain that comes from having a bit of life under the belt.
On the 19th of January 2025, 2ND Avenue are thrilled to be performing at The Tote Front Bar on a beaut summer Sunday alongside the heartfelt and experienced Ed Reed who is releasing his album “Enjoy The Madness” early 2025. Ed will start off proceedings at 3pm and 2ND Avenue will play 2 sets from 4-6pm. Please join us for some thought provoking and genuinely good fun music. We look forward to seeing you there!
