Kooii & Nuraini at The Presynct

Kooii offer up their music on Saturday, August 22, inviting The Presynct to become a vessel for pulsating transformation as we gather, dance and share in the music.

As they approach the opening stages of recording a new album, the group takes the opportunity to share that inspiration with their long-time lovers on the Sunshine Coast, and with anyone curious to discover their music. Joining them are Nuraini and her band, bringing the beauty, groove and warmth of their locally grown music to open the journey.

Kooii

Emerging from Brisbane in the mid-2000s, Kooii has always enjoyed a strong connection with the Sunshine Coast and hinterland, valuing every opportunity to return and share the continuing evolution of their music. Familiar songs are interwoven with recent creations carrying the vitality of their currentness to colour the night's journey.

Original drummer Dom Hede and bassist Tommy Sexton join founder Peter Hunt on vocals and trumpet, alongside guitarists Travis Jenkins and Linden Lester, who have formed the core of the band since emerging from the lockdown years.

Kooii's music is a vibrant field nourished by African, jazz and reggae influences. While most of the songs are seeded by Peter, the collective influence of every member shapes their rich tapestry of rhythm and harmony. Renowned for their live performances, the band creates an atmosphere where the music itself dictates the direction, inevitably drawing the audience onto the dance floor.

Nuraini

Nuraini is a soulful storyteller and multi-instrumentalist from the Sunshine Coast, delivering a fresh fusion of neo-soul and R&B infused with funk, blues and reggae. Known for her warm vocals and expressive guitar playing, her music moves between dreamy, intimate moments and groove-driven flow. Backed by her dynamic band, she creates live experiences that are both playful and deeply felt.
