Second Idol ‘Mongrel’ Album Tour // The Chippo

Supports TBA

“A fierce, clever, gut-punch of a debut from one of Australia’s most vital bands” – Loud Women

“Second Idol never sermonizes or sand down the edges. Instead, they lay every shard on the table, let it hum with heat and sorrow, and refuse to shrink from its complexity.” – Post-punk.com

“A fiercely intelligent and emotionally raw statement that immediately places the Sydney outfit amongst the most vital bands currently operating” – Broken 8 Records

Second Idol brings their acclaimed and powerful debut album ‘Mongrel’ to the stage this March, with a home-town show at The Chippo.

‘Mongrel’ explores identity and belonging in a fragmented, postmodern world marked by increasing isolation and polarisation. The album delves into themes of feminism, gender, postcolonialism, multiculturalism and imposter syndrome. It challenges the idea of a singular identity, embracing and celebrating complexity and vulnerability.

Based in Sydney on Gadigal and Wangal land, Second Idol unleashes impassioned performances that fuse alternative rock, post-punk, grunge, goth and shoegaze influences.

Stridently determined, Second Idol is a band for outsiders.

Second Idol has performed at Vivid Sydney, Transgenre Festival and Loud Women Festival Australia, and supported artists including The Murder Capital (IRE), Baxter Dury (UK), Arse, Battlesnake, Children Collide, Cry Club, dust, Grinding Eyes, Harry Howard and the NDE, Jen Cloher and Wolf & Cub.

Album ‘Mongrel’ out now.
