This is the debut show for Naarm/Melbourne based indie folk trio, Michael's Cane. Michael’s Cane consists of She Wolf (guitar, vocals), Jon the Obscure (guitar, vocals) and Jessie Simpson (bass, vocals). Together, the three offer a combination of sweet and sultry old world charm with quirky vulnerability. With harmonies that linger and lyrics that resonate, Michael’s Cane crafts stripped back music that delves into tortured love, messy lust, and the complexities of self-doubt. Through haunting melodies, Michael’s Cane bring a tongue in cheek, quirky humour to the human experience of heartache, self-criticism, and existential angst.

Supports acts include Aeriqah, Midnight Violet, and Emily Jane Pritchard.

Singapore and Melbourne-based artist, aeriqah, describes herself as a singer/storytelling-songwriter in a post-genre world (though if anyone asks, indie-folk with some influence of pop and musical theatre). A storyteller at heart, aeriqah’s songwriting is guided by her most sacred experiences, exploring the complexities of mental health, heartbreak and letting go.

Midnight Violet are an Indie-Folk quintet from Naarm. With influences from the likes of Mazzy Star, Leonard Cohen and Elliott Smith, the band is passionate about crafting a lyrical landscape and delving into the everyday experience that we all tend to overlook.

The Mornington Peninsula based songwriter, Emily Jane Pritchard, pens intricate melodies and lyrics that linger on in the heart and mind long after the show has finished. Pritchard’s voice travels seamlessly between heart-achingly sweet and ruggedly raw, sending sways and swoons throughout audiences, young and old. Pritchard’s songs explore honest moments of relationship reflection; an apology letter to an ex, the insecurity pangs of unanswered texts, the melancholy of trouble in paradise and the overflowing joy of being the cool auntie of a tiny twirling dancer.
