slow music club is an event series focused on artists who occupy the quieter corners.

It’s for those whose music rewards a considered ear in an attentive room. The Junk Bar’s dedicated music space (The Skukum Lounge) is the perfect place to house this concept with the sixth iteration of the series featuring 5 acts whose sounds traverse minimal electronic, cinematic drone, slowcore, and experimental dreampop.

4000 Records is incredibly proud to present:

ArtykMist

ArtykMist is a Brisbane-based ambient duo bringing together Dorian Dowse on Roli synthesisers and Gina Cardenas on crystal bowls. Formed in 2025, the duo made their debut at the Floating Lands festival and have since performed across Brisbane and beyond.

At the heart of ArtykMist is an exploration of music's capacity to alter consciousness. Crystal bowls generate vast, resonant walls of sound — frequencies felt as much as heard — layered with the unearthly textures of the Roli synthesiser to create rich harmonic fields. Together, these elements invite audiences into deep, immersive inner journeys where vibration becomes experience.

Jade Tyers [debut performance]

Jade Tyers is a musician, producer and the main songwriter of Relay Tapes. Her solo project explores ambient textures and experimental song forms - a playground for ideas that don't yet have a home. Jade is joined by Patrick Elliott, marking the project's first live performance.

Jamie Trevaskis + James Lees [debut performance + album launch]

Long-time collaborators Jamie Trevaskis and James Lees come together as musicians for the first time on Ghostlight, an album of atmospheric collaborations born from a shared history in the studio and a mutual fascination with texture, space and mood.

Trevaskis is a celebrated producer, recording engineer, musician and composer whose evocative guitar work and production credits span two decades, working with artists including Robert Forster, Hugo Race and Karl S. Williams, and his own current project Crying/The Heavy Light. Lees is a Brisbane/Meanjin-based multi-instrumentalist and composer, known for his work with Silver Sircus and his solo/collaborative project Ghostwoods, which explores dark jazz, minimalism and post-rock/noise textures.

The album Ghostlight (the title being a portmanteau of their two project names), began with a series of extended guitar soundscapes recorded by Trevaskis in the Northern NSW hinterland, which Lees shaped with atmospheric piano and percussion. Moving between the ethereal and the foreboding, the album inhabits a shadowy space of drones, broken chords, shimmering echoes and cinematic tension.

The Killing Cliff [debut performance]

Undulating drones and unrelenting loops. Ambience half baked in the background of Brisbane punk.

Soma's Secret

Soma's Secret, based in Brisbane/Meanjin write and perform atmospheric compositions that draw from their wide pool of sonic inspirations.

Their sound combines the gritty and dark with the soft and ethereal, creating songs with a vulnerable and emotive core.

"Soma's Secret sound like the moody house band, playing in the diner at the bottom of the Brisbane River.”
