Jorge Ben Jor is a living legend, the father of samba rock and one of the most influential Brazilian artists of all time. Since 1963 when he burst into the music scene with “Mas Que Nada,” he has continued to contribute hits to the common world songbook. His music goes beyond the boundaries of Samba, Bossa Nova, Tropicália, Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) to create something far more. His songs celebrate everyday life in Brazil from the favelas to the football fields, but also delve into esoteric musings about alchemy and spirit. His music has been covered by artists worldwide including Ella Fitzgerald and Sergio Mendes (feat. Black Eyed Peas), plagiarised by Rod Stewart and quoted by Barack Obama.
