Chiffon Magnifique (QLD)
Brisbane's Chiffon Magnifique make their Melbourne debut with a special performance at Shotkickers, Thornbury's beloved live music bar
Making the trip south from Brisbane, Chiffon Magnifique's Jed A. Walters (vocals, guitar & synth) and Lyra (backing vocals & percussion) will perform songs from their 2024 debut album Anxietika, alongside brand-new material yet to be released.
Blending post-punk, minimal wave, gothic rock and theatrical performance, Chiffon Magnifique create a darkly immersive live experience that balances driving rhythms, brooding atmospheres and dramatic flair. Equal parts dancefloor catharsis and gothic spectacle, their songs explore anxiety, beauty, absurdity and longing through a distinctly theatrical lens.
Sharing the stage is Father Daddy, the self-appointed Archbishop of Queer Pop. Equal parts cabaret, rock 'n' roll revival, religious fever dream and Eurovision spectacle, Father Daddy delivers a gloriously camp sermon of saucy anthems, outrageous costumes and unholy levels of charisma. It's giving Vatican City at Eurovision. It's giving shame as show. It's giving Church.
Opening the evening are Naarm dark-punks Beat Panic, dealing in tense, energetic dark punk with shades of classic post-punk and goth. Their music is an anxious, pre-apocalyptic and cathartic spray of jagged guitars, driving rhythms and restless energy that perfectly sets the tone for a night on the darker side of alternative music.
Three acts from the darker corners of the underground. One intimate room. A night of post-punk, dark-punk, queer spectacle and theatrical excess.
