Tallulah Grace
Tallulah Grace - 'Chlorine' Album Launch
Al Spears / Hairclip
Cactus Room (Thornbury, VIC)

In its original form, poetry and song were thought to be magical incantations, recited in the spring to ensure a good harvest. Tallulah Grace remains in pursuit of this feeling, the tangible fascination with a singer-songwriter who can silence a room, make you hold close to your friends, or be connected to a stranger. Blending folk, jazz and pop elements, Grace brings a new voice to Melbourne's beloved indie music scene. To celebrate the release of her debut album, Chlorine, Grace is playing a full band set at the Cactus Room, with special guests Al Speers and Hairclip.
A writer turned musician, Al Speers' interest has always been in the poetry and practice of songwriting. The form of their direct, honest lyricism is sometimes simple, sometimes surprising, and their gaze is unflinchingly honest in its attempt to measure the truth of its subject. Alt-folk routed in indie and jazz, Al Speers and their band draw on influences like Stereolab and Emma Russack to guide the listener through themes of love, identity, and magic.
Hairclip are a Naarm-based band made up of dear friends, neighbours and housemates. Gentle improvisations and closely felt lyrics are pillars of Hairclip’s unique, intimate sound. This 7-piece outfit convene to create music that is tender and bewitching and reflects their inner worlds.
