The Brightside has become a melting pot of up and coming national and international artists and is an integral part of the Australian music scene. The nursery has seen the likes of local heroes Violent Soho, The Jungle Giants, Ocean Alley, Confidence Man, Lime Cordiale, Baker Boy, DMA’s, Dune Rats, Northeast Party House, Cub Sport, G Flip, Amy Shark, Polaris, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, SPEED, The RIons, Rum Jungle, Old Mervs, Pacific Avenue, Between You & Me, RedHook as well as international juggernauts, Idles, Nothing But Thieves, Tinlicker, Angel Olsen, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Chase & Status and The Growlers to name only a very few that have graced our stages.
The venue offers multiple spaces for fans, including the indoor room, the beer garden, as well as the infamous carpark stage, giving a unique format that is the home of live music In Meanjin/Brisbane.
To celebrate turning 10, we’ve put together a full venue takeover for a weekend of huge live performances that pays homage to the past and present.
Day 1 see’s Ruby Fields headline, having played one of their first ever sets at The Brightside for Blurst of Times Festival, then going on to sell out the venue 3 nights in a row for their Permanent Hermit EP Tour.
We’ve also managed to get the band back together for an exclusive reunion, with Meanjin/Brisbane indie gods, The Creases, who will be playing their first show since 2018.
Meanwhile, Adam Newling will bring his alt-rock anthems to the outdoor stage, while locals, First Beige, will bring their infectious live set to close out the night indoors.
Rounding out the lineup are Bris legends, Velocipraptor, Pink Matter and Minor Premeirs, Melbourne rock dogs, LOSER and new up and comers on the local scene, SAMMM., Ghost Mutt and Blue Diner.
Once we’ve all recovered and hopefully had enough sleep, day 2 see’s us get our Emo/Punk on.
The Getaway Plan played one of the first ever shows at The Brightside in 2014 and have built a legacy that continues on to today, so it’s only fitting we have them return as one of headliners to celebrate our Birthday.
Ocean Grove also return to The Brightside, with their first appearance dating back to 2015. They’ve since gone onto grace Festival stages all over the world and we’re so excited for them to smash the outdoor stage.
Joining our headliners, you’ll be blown away from the incredible energy that interstate artists, Eat Your Heart Out, FANGZ and Suzi all bring to the main stage, nWhile you’ll find a new act to obsess over in the likes of rising locals, Days Like These, Sunbleached, Lucy Francesca Dron, Talk Heavy, Mitch, Please , Joy in Motion. AM//PM DJ’s will then be closing out the celebrations leaving us with a weekend we’ll never forget.
