Formed out of Caboolture’s suburban sprawl, The Phosphenes have quickly developed a reputation for raw, infectious alternative rock, pulling heavily from 90s grunge, garage rock and power pop punk. Their sound has drawn comparisons to acts including Violent Soho, Jebediah, You Am I and DZ Deathray, with triple j Unearthed describing recent track “D.Y.V” as a “huge punk anthem”.

Joining them is Gold Coast five piece Scarfe, an indie rock outfit built around three part harmonies, varied instrumentation and a genre bending approach to songwriting.

Also on the bill is Bella Jon, an emerging Gold Coast artist whose live shows lean into storytelling and powerful vocals, bringing a different dynamic to the night alongside the heavier guitar driven acts.

Jet Lindsay completes the four act lineup, making this a showcase of emerging artists and new sounds from around the local scene.

The show lands at Elsewhere, tucked above Cavill Avenue in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Since opening in 2003, Elsewhere has established itself as one of the Gold Coast’s best known independent live music spaces, with an intimate room and a long history of supporting local and emerging artists.

Expect a Friday night moving between grunge, indie rock, punk energy, harmonies and singer songwriter influences, with four very different emerging acts sharing one stage.
