MEATSHELL w/ Niran Dasika (solo) + Mia Barham (solo)
Bar Open Fitzroy (Fitzroy, VIC)
Sunday, 6 September 2026 8:00 pm
MEATSHELL are proud to present live, their “utterly new and brilliantly innovative” (Hilary Seabrook) third studio album “The Elevator Child”, out now on Earshift Music.
MEATSHELL is the duo of Helen Svoboda (bass, voice, electronics) and Andrew Saragossi (saxophone, electronics). With a shared curiosity for the subtle beauty of things, the pair cultivates unconventional sound worlds, transcending traditional song forms by emphasising the power of story telling through sound.
“The Elevator Child” is undeniably of our time — absurd, erratic, existential and defiantly hopeful, resulting in a highly tuned critique of the culturally and spiritually confused world that we find ourselves in. Aesthetically upbeat, rhythmic and at times poppy. This is complex, vivid and fascinating music but it comes over so easily.
For this performance the duo will be joined by Pat Telfer (electronics) and Dylan van der Schyff (percussion), with support sets from Niran Dasika and Mia Barham.
