WANDERERS + Tommy Sexton

Genre-defying Wanderers have long blown audiences away with their trademark symphony of moods — shredding guitar riffs, dreamy harmonies, funky basslines, and a feeling of nostalgia that threads through every track. The band’s rock-tinged numbers build into raunchy, soulful jams, while their smooth and distinctive sophistication shines through in every performance.

Originally hailing from Adelaide, Wanderers have spent years winning crowds over with their energetic live shows. In 2019, the band toured the US and returned to showcase at SXSW in Austin in 2021, further cementing their international presence. Across three EPs, the band has shown a clear evolution — from their early blues and roots beginnings as a trio to a full five-piece soul-funk band commanding main stage audiences. From WOMAD to Woodford, to a shipping container in Berlin and basement clubs in New York, Wanderers have built a reputation for captivating audiences with infectious energy and Motown-style sensibilities infused with a contemporary edge. With a new era of music underway, Wanderers continue to fuse nostalgia with innovation, delivering tracks that are at once timeless and fresh — inviting fans both old and new to join them on the dancefloor of self-discovery.

Wanderers have shared the stage with the likes of Gang of Youths, Middle Kids, Cory Henry (USA), Calexico (USA) and Angus and Julia Stone. From Adelaide, South Australia (Kaurna Yerta), Wanderers have been a recurring favourite in the Australian music scene.

“The crowd was feeling the love and giving it back in spades.” (The Music)

“Wanderers have composed another irresistible genre-defying gem here, with driving beats and skilfully layered tunes drawing from funk, soul and pop influences.” (the au review)
