Are you doing anything on February 28th? The answer is yes, you’ll be attending the EP release of The Corner’s new EP THWIP (Two Hearts With Idyllic Perceptions). A night of indie and alt rock to celebrate the release of three new songs, The Corners will be joined by Violent Harbour and Alex Fears. Lock it in your calendars and prepare your ears.
The Corners
The Corners recently regrouped and rethought their sound. After sometime they're back with a new sound of indie/alt rock. Miles and Gabe had been playing and making music together since early highschool with Jordan and Alex joining in once Miles and Gabe started studying at Macquarie University. Their uniqueness as songwriters comes from the collaboration and unity they have as musicians, bouncing ideas off each other like it's a heated tennis match. With each hit resulting in a slick riff or a catchy chord progression. Their influences consist primarily of British indie rock, with artists such as The Smiths, Blur, XTC and the Arctic Monkeys, while also taking on some American influences like the Cage The Elephant, The Strokes and Wallows.
Violent Harbour
Sydney-based band Violet Harbour aren’t just a band, they’re a feeling. Based on intuition, imagination and emotional clarity you can’t fake, their sultry alt rock sound drifts between Fleetwood mac and The Cranberries, a familiar feeling but their own. With their debut single ‘Eyes On The Wind’ just released and their festival debut at laneway, come catch a glimpse of whimsy.
Alex Fears
Alex Fears is a Punk/Indie/Rock artist who chaotically blends elements of the Arctic Monkeys, B52s and Green Day into their sound and along with their band "The Phobias" leave people smiling albeit a little confused.
