Things have been quiet on Boot Hill lately but everybody’s favourite cowqpunks, The Johnnys, are poised to light up Ballarat’s winter with a special show at The Eastern on Friday, June 14.
The Johnnys haven’t played Ballarat since Tony Lockett was a child and their live schedule has been quiet. They have been busy, however, preparing a vinyl re-issue of their “Highlight of a Dangerous Life”, and compiling a collection of outtakes and rarities.
The Johnnys formed in 1984 and rode the charts and live circuit in Australia and overseas for at the height of Australia’s underground music glory days.
Today, they are co-founders Graham Hood (bass and vocals) and Billy Pommer Jr (drums and vocals) and Slim Doherty (guitar and vocals) and they’re still a portable party with a set list littered with classic like “There’s Gonna Be a Showdown”,. Injun’ Joe” and “Bleeding Heart”:
Supports are ‘Hoff and the Nightriders’ and 'These Things' and your presence is required.
