A Showcase for the Big Bands from Blackburn High School and Eltham High School.
These young musicians have a keen interest in big band music, through performing a mixture of classic and contemporary big band arrangements. Many participants gain a foothold in the local music scene while in their school big bands, as their teachers are often professional seasoned musicians.
This concert presents an excellent additional opportunity outside their usual school parameters for the students to perform and interact with eachother and their teachers.

This will be one of the last performances in Australia before the Blackburn band head overseas to perform at Lincoln Centre in New York. They will be one of 30 bands and the first from outside the USA to perform at the Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition with Wynton Marsalis.
