Matsumura Blues Festival is an exciting new music festival launching on 1 June 2024. It will be a "big day in" as ten bands perform at the iconic Prince Bandroom in St Kilda. The Festival offers a unique line-up of leading Australian and international blues and rock musicians, blending their tunes with some traditional Okinawan and Japanese artists, to deliver what will be a brilliant and memorable musical experience.
The Australian headline artist, 19-Twenty, is an infectious riff and grove based blue-billy-grass-rockin’-roots band. 19-Twenty has been whipping up a frenzy on the festival scene with their electric and supercharged performances, and need little introduction. Come and join the "19-Twenty" party!
Equipped with an old Goldtop and a Farmer Foot Drum, Minnie Marks will leave you gob-smacked with her dynamic guitar wizardry, original tunes, and her insanely powerful voice. Minnie regularly tours throughout Australia and Europe and her fans can’t seem to get enough!
The International headline artist, Okinawa Americana (JPN), will showcase a new genre of music that has evolved in Okinawa, Japan, blending ancient Ryukyu Island traditional influences, woven with the rich tapestry of American rock, rhythm, and blues. David Ralston is born and bred in Indiana, US, a master on the slide guitar, and makes you feel for a moment as if you are floating down the Mississippi River. Some of David’s early albums were produced by Eric Clapton’s producer, Delaney Bramlett. Megumi "Merry" Gushi will play the three-stringed Sanshin and sing some of her songs are in the ancient Okinawan language. An experience not to be missed!
Other brilliant Festival artists include Doggerel, Mark Easton & The Delta Khans (QLD), The Windsavers, Dalicados, Phil Para Band, George & Noriko, Sayaka Ohno, Sonorous (NZ) and Okinawan drumming dancers: Eisa Champ Roo. (Please note: the constitution and order of the Artist lineup is subject to change without notice, in the unlikely event of Artist cancellation).
