Noisy Youth Presents: The Payback & Sweat at Cross St Music Hall!

This event is curated by Ray Pereira and Ronny Ferella/Small Space Music (Noisy Youth) and is designed to showcase local and upcoming young acts around Naarm. Those who buy tickets can expect an afternoon of new, exciting and inspiring music, sweet vibes, good people and all the while contributing to the local scene and community! Here's a bit of information about our acts...

The Payback are a sextet of young and eager working musicians based in Naarm/Melbourne, recreating the timeless sounds of the funk soul and blues greats, including James Brown, The Meters, Jimmy Smity, Donny Hathaway, Betty Davis and many more.

Their performances are exhilarating, authentic and deeply funky. The Payback will send any crowd into a hypnotic state of dance groove.

Sweat combines groove, spoken word, horn melodies and improvisation to create a fresh sound. With a cast of vibrant young musicians, the band features vocalist and poet Jag, who traverses seamlessly between spoken word and singing over the top of resonant, intense grooves.

After a month long residency at High Street's Bar 303 in late 2025, Sweat recorded their forthcoming debut album in early 2026 with Pat Telfer at Sydney Road Studios and features compositions by Marley Del Prete (Trumpet). Rhythmically dense and full of texture, the music of Sweat will make you dance, clap, sing, think and shake.

Noisy Youth acknowledges the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which the Cross Street Music Hall is situated. We recognise their continuing relationship with the land, the waterways and Merri-bek community.

Hope to see you there!
*Tickets will also be available at the door :)
