Creating heartfelt songs soaked in gritty guitar that voice reinvention and release, Hot Glue will double the size of your heart. The Melbourne indie-rock band is made up of siblings Lily and Pearl Harnath, with Henry Lucas on drums. Pulsing with punchy beats, high energy guitars and soaring melodic harmonies, their songs speak to the experiences of young adulthood. Citing influences including Slow Pulp, Wednesday and feeble little horse, the band uses shoegaze-y, fuzzy guitars and loud, heavy drums to accompany reflective lyricism in a bittersweet and cathartic manner.
Their new album Again, Again is Hot Glue at their grittiest and most honest. Over the ten tracks, the band delve deep into the cycles they find themselves in throughout life, both destructive and productive. There is comfort in repetition and also frustration, all of which is conveyed through raucous and tender moments. The album came together over the course of a year where songwriting and recording at Hothouse Audio (Jet, Franz Ferdinand, Clowns) occurred in tandem, before it was mixed by Bonnie Knight (Angie McMahon, Amyl and the Sniffers, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers). The result is a textured set of fuzzed out songs that ultimately see the band finding comfort in the relentlessness of life’s cycles, twists and turns, earning them airplay across Australian community radio and triple j, as well as support from KEXP and praise from Matt Wilkinson on his Apple Music radio show.
Hot Glue released their first EP The City in 2018, an explosive post-high school debut into the Melbourne music scene with singles receiving triple j presenter play and praise. Following a string of follow-up singles, the band released their debut album Hatchet in 2023, earning them Local Feature Album on SYN FM, a Wild One feature on Rage for their first music video ‘Roadkill’, repeat airplay on local and community radio (triple j, Triple R, PBS, SYN) and praise from Beat, Pilerats and MILKY. Having played at Brunswick Music Festival in 2024, sold out multiple headline shows and supported the likes of Body Type, Carla Geneve, and Jess Ribeiro, Hot Glue continue to impress at live shows in Melbourne.
