DJ VADIM

There exist musicians and bands who create a single album and then fade into obscurity. There are others who maintain an unwavering presence in the studio and on the road, akin to the likes of Tupac, J Dilla or BB King. These artists transcend mere prolificacy and seem to exude music through their very pores. DJ Vadim, also known as Daddy Vad, has undoubtedly established himself within this latter category.

Over the past two decades, few individuals have dedicated as much time and energy to the culture they cherish as DJ Vadim. As the founder of Jazz Fudge in early 1995, and now of King Dada Sounds, he has worn multiple hats, including those of an A&R, producer, promoter, record collector, award-winning radio presenter, writer, chef and yogi. And this is before even considering his DJ performances, which have seen him take the stage over 3,000 times across 88 countries, gracing some of the world's most prestigious festivals like Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. With over 250 million streams, numerous indie chart-topping mixtapes on platforms like Mixcloud, award winning production sample packs for companies like Loopmasters, teaching at SAE School of Music and a plethora of awards, describing the man as an internationalist seems like an understatement.

DJ Vadim's journey commenced in 1992 when the Russian ex-pat acquired a sampler and began working on the music that would become his debut, "Abstract Hallucinating Gasses and Headz Ain't Ready." Later that year he signed with Ninja Tune, culminating in his debut LP, "USSR Repertoire." From these early recordings came 31 albums plus countless EPs, singles and mixtapes, not including the production for groups he was part of like 7n7c, with whom he was nominated for the Latin Grammys in 2002.

For an artist with such an extensive recording pedigree, it would be easy to coast on autopilot, churning out music by rote or rehashing earlier ideas, ultimately becoming irrelevant and past his prime. Similarly, it would be tempting to collaborate with the day's "stars" and "buy fame." However, this is not Vadim's approach. So what does he sound like?

Tracing the music's evolution, one can discern that musical progression is the key, a work in progress. Vadim didn't just try to regurgitate the 90s when he started, he has constantly tried to create his own sonic vision. Starting from a foundation in hip-hop music and the science of sampling, Vadim has evolved into more than just a beat maker or a rap nerd. He amalgamated hip hop, soul, jazz, bass culture, reggae, house and worldly sounds, all infused with a touch of something quite special and unique.

There is an unmistakable quality to his musical style, a distinctive sonic signature that sets him apart from his contemporaries. Whether it's the raw emotion conveyed through raspy vocals or the intricate interplay of instruments, his artistry resonates with a profound authenticity. Each composition is a meticulously crafted tapestry, woven with threads of personal experience and profound introspection. His sound transcends mere melodies, evoking visceral reactions and forging an indelible connection with listeners who find solace and resonance in his poetic production. Beyond the confines of genre or trend, his artistry stands as a testament to the enduring power of music to touch the human soul.

"Some men see things as they are and ask why. Others dream of things that never were and ask why not." Bernard Shaw

TIMMUS

Label owner and manager of Smash Bang Records, Timmus (AUS) is a multidisciplinary sound artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer and DJ affiliated with Beat & Path, Stone Seed, LucidFlow, Sprout, Heinz and Open Records. Originally raised in Gippsland, country Victoria, Timmus spent a decade immersed in the creative ecosystems of the Dandenong Ranges before relocating to Maleny, Queensland, a lush Sunshine Coast hinterland often described as the Belgrave of the north. Each landscape has left an imprint on his sonic identity, shaping a sound that feels both grounded in earth and reaching toward the cosmic.

A multi-instrumentalist at heart, his approach to production is deeply tactile and expressive, blending live instrumentation with electronic design to create immersive sonic environments that blur the line between music, ritual and storytelling. Guided by a philosophy he calls summit, the ongoing ascent toward creative and personal evolution, his work explores the intersection of rhythm, texture and emotional depth. With 71 releases and 6 full-length albums to his name, Timmus has built a substantial and evolving catalogue that reflects both prolific output and a commitment to artistic growth.

Known for his highly skilled and eclectic DJing, Timmus moves with precision and instinct behind the decks, seamlessly navigating genres, tempos and moods. His sets are fluid, adaptive and deeply intentional, weaving together deep electronic, organic, tribal and experimental sounds into cohesive, journey-driven experiences that respond to the energy of the room in real time. A prolific creator, he performs and releases music under multiple aliases including Sacred Summit, Micro Jaxon, Swingtime Paradigm and Psymus Drummit, each representing a distinct sonic frequency.

Timmus is also an active voice in Australia's dance music broadcast space, hosting a weekly 2.5 hour radio show on Kiss FM Dance Music Australia, where he delivers curated selections and forward-thinking electronic music to a dedicated audience. Beyond performance, he operates through his studio practice, Arttimus, working as a sound engineer and creative collaborator. His focus is on capturing authentic expression and translating ideas into fully realised sonic works. With releases across international labels and performances spanning festivals, radio and club environments, Timmus continues to expand his reach. His mission remains grounded yet expansive: to create music that connects, elevates and resonates far beyond the dancefloor.

MIAMI VICE

New Zealand born. Sunshine Coast based. Quietly operating somewhere between a dubwise party and heavyweight bass pressure. 🌿
For years Jonny Bundellu has moved through the underground under various names - Jonny Boinkin, The Brains Trust, Mank Industries - leaving behind a trail of cult releases, studio sessions and late night soundsystem moments that those who were there still talk about. 👀👀👀
These days it's simply Miami Vice.
With a reputation that travels by word of mouth, he's the kind of artist who somehow ends up on the right lineups at the right time. 🔊
Support sets for serious acts. Rooms left slightly stunned when the system cools down. The kind of set where people turn to each other halfway through like "what is this?" - and by the end the dancefloor is rinsed. 💥
Deep bass pressure. Dusty sampling. Version Party. Dub-soaked rhythms. Something that feels both raw and strangely beautiful. 🌍
Not chasing hype.
Just chasing fat music on a True Soundsystem. 🌿

HEX SELECTORS
Hex Selectors are AQUI and FINGERZ—two DJs from opposite sides of the globe united by a deep-rooted passion for bass music and sound system culture. Together, they co-founded the hand-built, community-focused HEX Sound System on the Sunshine Coast, a DIY project built for underground gatherings and grassroots dance floors.

FINGERZ is a junglist at heart with bass on the brain and three decades deep in the rave. Known for twisting jungle, tekno, footwork, dubwise and bassline into face-melting sets, he’s played everything from Boomtown to Glastonbury, now repping heavy sounds at festivals like Earth Frequency, Jungle Love and Island Vibe.

AQUI is an emerging force in the Queensland bass scene, known for high-energy, genre-fluid sets blending dubstep, breaks, garage, halftime and DnB. With a sharp ear for broken-beat bass and an infectious stage presence, AQUI brings heat whether supporting headliners or holding down local floors.

Together, as Hex Selectors, they deliver deep cuts, big pressure, and proper underground energy crafted for full-body movement and sound system connection.
