Show just announced! The lovely Ruby Gill is in town and will be playing an extra special intimate show for us over at our old West End local favourite, 'The End'. On support will be Brissy's Charlotte Meade. We hope you can join us for a lovely evening ahead.

The End is open from 4pm, with doors at 7.00pm and music from 7.30pm.

Ruby Mary Gill is a South Africa-born, Australia-based musician and poet whose “lyrical wizardry” has earned her the reputation of unmissable. A two-time nominee for the Australian Music Prize, and recent winner of Best Country Album at the Australian Independent Records Awards, Ruby’s ARIA-charting, globally renowned sophomore record ‘Some Kind Of Control’ has made a name for her own genre of roguely spiritual, strange novella alt-folk. She writes with unparalleled specificity, catchy prose and deadpan wit, and hot on her own heels, her third record ‘fishing is not about fishing’ was recently released on 16 Oct 2026.

Armed with a complete disregard for emotional small talk, and an alarming talent for silencing the most stoic audiences, Ruby turns existential dread, lesbian normalcy, political frustration, and everyday grief into caustic songs that are somehow devastating and funny. Hers are not easy answers—they point out the apocalypse, and make you glad to be alive in it.

The tender, ungovernable writer is beloved by everyone from triple j and Double J in Australia, to BBC and KCRW over the pond. She’s sold-out rooms across Australia, NZ, South Africa and the UK/EU, and been named by Rolling Stone, NME, The Guardian and The Independent as some of Australia’s best music. Her sophomore record debuted on the Australian ARIA charts at #5, while her 2022 debut ‘I’m gonna die with this frown on my face’ garnered acclaim such as Sunday Times’ coveted “Breaking Act” and was nominated for Best Folk Work at Music Victoria. On paper, Ruby’s poetry book ‘I’m not exaggerating when I say’ sold out its first print run before launch day, plus every print run after. 500+ copies is a poetry bestseller, all on her own!
