The Grand Magoozi (Susie Scurry) - 'Tropic of Capricorn' launch show
Nearly ten years after the release of her first album as The Grand Magoozi, songwriter Susie Scurry is returning to the stage with a new album. This will be a rare chance to hear these songs live with the full band of musicians.
The Grand Magoozi is the kind of artist that is discovered by word of mouth, hand to hand in friend's record collections or through a late-night radio show. Appearing almost out of nowhere in 2016, The Grand Magoozi has gathered a devoted following along the way with songs that seem to exist somewhere between American folk, country, indie, jazz and the broad Australian landscape.
Tropic of Capricorn is the new album, recorded live over three days with longtime musical friends at a rural studio outside Melbourne with engineer Jesse Williams (Leah Senior, Winter McQuinn). Intimate, spacious and full of stories, the songs move through loneliness, love, mortality, time, strange encounters and the pull of the unknown.
The Grand Magoozi returns to the stage to launch the release of her new album Tropic of Capricorn, with special guests Ruth Parker and The Flying Engine String Band.
