Psychotic Turnbuckles Vinyl Single Launch with Spittin' Chips & The No Such Things
It's stating the obvious to say The Psychotic Turnbuckles are the greatest rock and roll band that ever stepped into the ring: They came, they saw, they conquered and although many have tried, none have ever been able to stand in their way.
And now the Pismo Beach’s Kings of the Combat Zone (and the Californian resort town's first Rock and Roll World Champions) are making more history, with the release of their first vinyl single in 32 years.
Marrickville Bowling Club is the place to be on Saturday, September 5 for the world exclusive release of “Bad News Travels Fast” b/w “Infected (With You)”, the double A-sided 45rpm Single of The Year.
In lurid green vinyl with full colour cover and a typically understated sticker insert, it will land on the merch desk like a pallet-load of phone books.
Both tracks were originally recorded by other bands (“Bad News” by The Fuzztones and “Infected” by The Miracle Workers) but have been slammed to the canvas, worked over and given the Turnbuckles treatment.
It’s a special occasion and the Turnbuckles are calling in some heavy artillery to give their record a 21-gun salute with The Grand Wizard hand-picking both supports.
Melbourne’s Spittin’ Chips, who feature two-thirds of the original Cosmic Psychos, are heading the undercard. Are they good enough? They’ve shown promise on a handful of hit-and-run visits to Sydney. We will find out soon enough.
Opening support The No Such Things are billed as “Woy Woy’s Best Freakbeat Band” because they mine similar ‘60s fuzz territory as the Turnbuckles. Can they go toe-to-toe with their idols? They’re going home to their mothers crying, if the headliners have their way.
Don't delay. This gig is first in, best dressed. Some copies of the 45 will probably find their way online, but how are you going to get one signed in person by the hands of greatness?
