Do It Yourself (D.I.Y) by groupSong
DIY by GroupSong is GroupSong’s debut live music event, a night created to help emerging artists and students get a real foot in the door of the Melbourne music scene. More than just a gig, DIY is a hands-on experience where young artists learn how to organise, promote and run their own shows independently while keeping 100% of the profits. It’s about building community, creating opportunities and proving that you don’t need permission to start making your mark.
Bringing together a lineup of some of Melbourne’s most exciting emerging acts, DIY showcases a diverse mix of pop, blues, folk, funk, soul and alternative sounds from artists carving out their own lane in the local scene.
Melbourne-based artist Samantha Chard blends heartfelt emotion with unapologetic “drama queen” storytelling, turning the chaos and intensity of teenage life into bold, relatable anthems. Following local radio support for her debut single “Paper Sheets” and the boundary-pushing release of “Drunk Divinity,” Samantha is quickly becoming a standout new voice in Melbourne’s next wave of artists.
Christian Elijah brings a raw and honest sound shaped by American blues, folk, country and rock, layered with a grunge undercurrent. Inspired by songwriters like Blaze Foley and Townes Van Zandt alongside the energy of Eddie Vedder, his music captures something deeply human, imperfect, vulnerable and real.
Bringing the rhythm and chaos in equal measure is JK and the Home Team - a funk-soul-blues project led by guitarist and vocalist Justin “JK” Kim. Backed by a powerhouse lineup of musicians, the band delivers groove-heavy performances packed with personality, energy and infectious musicianship guaranteed to get a crowd moving.
Also joining the lineup is Markoe, a Melbourne-based pop artist creating intimate, emotionally driven music inspired by artists like Billie Eilish, Daniel Caesar and Madison Beer. Known for her vulnerable songwriting and captivating live performances, Markoe’s music explores love, ambition, self-doubt and the quiet contradictions of adulthood through atmospheric production and deeply personal storytelling.
DIY by GroupSong is more than a concert, it’s a launchpad for the next generation of independent artists.
