Ratchasima
Ratchasima is the genre-blurring project of Thai-Australian vocalist/songwriter Wani Dood and guitarist/songwriter Hugo Stone. Known for their Tarantino-esque soundscapes, Thai inspired riffs, and explosive live energy, the duo crafts rhythm heavy rock songs that veer between the surreal and the sincere. Drawing comparisons to Wet Leg, Courtney Barnett, and Suki Waterhouse, Ratchasima blends razor-sharp lyricism with theatrical flair and undeniable hooks.
At the heart of the project, Wani channels a magnetic persona, part provocateur, part anti-heroine, using biting humor and theatrical storytelling to deliver sharp-edged songs about sugar baby power plays, emotional detachment, and the kind of simmering disdain captured in lines like “I wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire”.
Her vocal delivery is matched by Hugo’s instinctive, angular guitar work, resulting in a sound that’s as captivating as it is unclassifiable. More than just a band, Ratchasima is a full-bodied performance experience with equal parts glam, grit, and deadpan wit.
Coming off the back of their SXSW showcase, King Street Summer Crawl show, and sold-out debut single launch sponsored by Espolon Tequila, the band is looking forward to an exciting 2026.
