The Great Bug Hotel Build, Celebration Lawn and Children’s Garden
Little green thumbs, this one’s for you! Yates Australia are bringing a hands-on kids’ gardening workshop to Playtopia, where young gardeners can build their very own insect hotel while learning why beneficial bugs are the unsung heroes of the garden.
Led by the Queensland Yates team, this fun and interactive session mixes creativity with a bit of eco know-how – showing kids how tiny insects help fruit and veggies thrive. Sessions run from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 April at 9:30am and 11:30am and go for 1.5 hours. Tickets cost $12 per child. Suitable for kids aged 5 to 12.
Drop in to the Celebration Lawn from 9am–1pm, Wednesday 8 – Friday 10 April and Wednesday 15 – Friday 17 April, where the rest of the main program is completely free. Kids can explore Cardboard City, a hands-on craft zone where they can build houses, schools, cars – or anything their imagination dreams up. Creations can be taken home or added to the park’s ever-growing city. Each day also features movement focused activities, from hip hop dance with Mad Dance House to Touch Football Skills with Billy’s Buddies and AFL Fun with Physi Kids.
Playtopia is proudly delivered by Roma Street Parkland. To learn more or book a workshop, head to romastreetparkland.com.au.
