Lucy Wise 'V Line' Single Launch
Award-winning songwriter Lucy Wise returns to Shotkickers to launch ‘V Line’, the first single from her forthcoming new album, ‘Salt’.
Lucy Wise creates music that gently opens a door you didn’t realise was closed. Blending contemporary folk and pop sounds, her work combines poetic lyricism with intricate guitar and emotional insight. Inspired by artists such as Joni Mitchell and Madison Cunningham, her work sits between the intimacy of traditional folk and the clarity of modern pop.
Lucy has toured extensively across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US over the past 16 years, appearing at festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the National Folk Festival. Lucy won Solo Artist of the Year at the 2024 Australian Folk Music Awards, and Lucy will be touring her fifth album, Salt through Eastern Australia this Spring.
Lucy’s new single, ‘V Line’ paints a picture of a person who is struggling after her move to the country, so she keeps taking the train into Melbourne to party with her city friends. Featuring a driving rhythm section and playful, nostalgic vocals, the song reflects on how sometimes it's not always clear we've made the right choice, there are beautiful and hard aspects of where we are, and connection can bring us joy during challenging times.
Local alt-folk artist Flora will be starting off the afternoon with a set of their original songs. Flora emerges in the alt-folk scene as a beacon of optimism and healing, intricately touching on themes of mental health, queer love and remembering home. They masterfully blend indie folk with the soulful tones of alt-country, creating a sound that is uniquely their own.
