Bakers Daughter (AKA ALYCE PLATT)
Bakers Daughter / aka Alyce Plat has returned, but for this artist, everything is new! She is Melbourne born singer-songwriter, musician, and actor better known for her many roles on iconic TV shows.
A diverse roster of Melbourne’s elite musicians who play on Alyce’s recordings also feature in her stunning live band. The multi talented vibes and tuned percussionist Clare Moore (Dave Graney and the Coral Snakes) and dynamic guitarist Peter Farnan (Boom Crash Opera) will be joining her on stage at the Junk Bar.
Blurring the lines of reality and make believe, Bakers Daughter stumbles through obstacles of self-doubt and paranoia not afraid to confront the darker side of life. ‘Her’ indie-pop songs have a depth and melancholy that can suddenly turn around and become oblique, uplifting tunes coated in a blanket of haunting melodies and dreamy soundscapes wrapped around nostalgic themes and unsuspecting lyrics of lost love, fantastical friends and a sea of strangers.
Catapulted from the suburban jungle of the 80s into a ubiquitous television career, Bakers Daughter highlights stories and observations from growing up in the suburbs to living in St. Kilda with super hero’s, cowboys in the attic and the KGB.
Reframing her past, Bakers Daughter presents her original music and artistic pursuits through the lens of the Indie-pop artist she is so highly regarded as by her peers and critics alike. She brings to life; tales from her deep dark past drawing on her extensive life experiences and some of these might even be true!
