Americana in Surry Hills!
Melbourne alt-country Icons Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes are back, playing their first Sydney show in more than three years!
Joining them for this special bill is the Queen of Southern Gothich Hannah Aldridge (USA) and the brilliant folk pairing of Dan Webster & Emily Lawler.
Lachlan Bryan & The Wildes...
Over more than a decade Lachlan Bryan has built a reputation as a master storyteller and entertainer, regardless of whether he's performing solo, fronting his band The Wildes or collaborating with Country Music Icon Catherine Britt in The Pleasures. His songs range from the gothic Americana of The Wildes' debut album to the feel good anti-love of The Pleasures' records and the non-linear indie-folk of ‘As Long as it’s Not Us' - but each one contains a unique turn of phrase, dark humour and an ever-present sense of romance.
Lachlan has toured with icons such as Justin Townes Earle, John Hiatt and Shawn Colvin, as well as headlining his own tours and performing at festivals all over the world. He's released five full length albums with The Wildes, all of which have received critical acclaim, featured in Yearly Top Ten lists and in some cases even charted strongly in the ARIA Official Australian Albums charts.
But it's as a live act that Lachlan truly thrives. He and The Wildes have built a devoted audience at home in Australia and also in Europe with their captivating performances - which have drawn comparisons to artists as disparate as The Bad Seeds and Wilco. As a solo act Lachlan slips effortlessly into troubadour mode, reminiscent of the Texas singer-songwriters who first inspired him.
If you haven't caught Lachlan on his own or with the band, you may have seen him on the road as piano-player and co-conspirator with his friend Henry Wagons - or alternatively you may have heard the multi-award-winning Dream of America album which he co-wrote and produced for Muscle Shoals Southern Gothic Queen Hannah Aldridge. In any of his guises, Lachlan Bryan brings a warmth and wisdom to the stage and studio that wins over fans for life.
Hannah Aldridge...
Raised on the muddy banks of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Hannah Aldridge writes songs shaped by Southern mythology, rebellion, and self-reckoning. The daughter of Muscle Shoals legend Walt Aldridge, she began as a classically trained pianist before finding her true voice as a songwriter in her twenties.
Her records — from Razor Wire and Gold Rush to the live album Live in Black and White — have earned international acclaim for their blend of grit and grace. Aldridge’s ambitious album Dream of America expanded her sound into cinematic, noir-tinged territory, pairing haunting vocals with darkly romantic storytelling. Whether on a highway stereo, a European rock club stage, or a quiet listening room, Aldridge delivers songs that confront demons without surrendering to them.
Dan Webster & Emily Lawler...
Dan Webster and Emily Lawler hail from York, UK, and in March 2025 will once again be bringing to Eastern Australia their unique blend of English folk music fused with Americana (‘Anglicana’, it has been called!). After their first two Australian tours saw their formidable live performances captivate a growing number of folkies and country fans alike, Dan and Emily are feeling increasingly at home in Australia and cannot wait to be back again!
