Fifty years after it was recorded at Detroit’s Grande Ballroom, the MC5’s epic debut album “Kick Out The Jams” remains a stone classic in the annals of high-energy rock and roll.

Ragged, resolute and raw, it was the call to arms for a blue collared army of anti-establishment rabble-rousers in an American midwest ruptured in two by the Vietnam War and it’s provided inspiration for generations of bands that have followed.

It’s time to testify, Sydney brothers and sisters. We give you a testimonial on Saturday, September 8 when the SC5 - Australia’s pre-eminent salute to the MC5 - mark the 50th anniversary of “Kick Out The Jams” at Marrickville Bowling Club.

This collection of veteran Sydneysiders has  been kicking out the jams for 25 years, “coming together” sporadically to express their admiration for the Five through faithful versions of their songs.

The 50th anniversary provides the perfect excuse for the SC5 to play their first show in a couple of years with a high-energy undercard.

Main support will be Turbobelco, those inner-western denim demons who showcase the music of famed Euro rockers Turbonegro in all their leather and lubricant, sailor suit glory.

Opening the night will be Australis Uber Alles, a new group paying their own homage to the Dead Kennedys. No stressing whether to see Jello’s new band or the Jello-less version of the Kennedys - these guys put on a show that lynches the landlord and tells Nazi punks exactly where to go.

Tickets on sale through Oztix.com.au or call 1300 762 545. Limited SC5 celebratory T-shirts on sale on the night.

18+. Minors permitted with a legal guardian who is over the age of 25.
A legal guardian is a responsible adult. A 'responsible adult' is either a parent, a step-parent or guardian over the age of 25 who has 'parental rights, duties and responsibilities' in relation to the minor. A responsible adult must actively supervise the minor.
