Brisbane Heavy Music and Arts Festival DEAD OF WINTER has returned bigger and bolder than ever in 2018 with a mega first lineup announced last night, taking the festival from humble beginnings to being the main player on the QLD heavy music calendar annually.

The horror-themed event, now in it's eighth year, will feature punk royalty FRENZAL RHOMB, metalcore tidal wave POLARIS, UNFD Nu Metal lords OCEAN GROVE, American Stoner Blues outfit RADIO MOSCOW and Hardcore punks CLOWNS amongst a host of other national and internationally-touring acts in what one can only describe as 'one hell of a good time!'. 31 acts have been named on the first announce, with the soon-to-be-released second announce containing more surprises.

Bands such as Lo!, Pagan, Desecrator, Lagerstein, Black Rheno and She Cries Wolf make up an impressive and heavy mid tier with a host of popular local Brisbane acts including Flangipanis, Osaka Punch, Smoking Martha and The Cutaways in the mix.

Dead of Winter Festival organisers have upscaled this year's event after a SOLD OUT 2017, doubling the festival's capacity with the inclusion of Brisbane top tier venue The Tivoli which will focus more on hardcore acts, with the faithful Jubilee Hotel hosting 4 stages of Punk, Rock, Metal and Ska over 12 hours. The annual much-loved event delivers quality burlesque and horror cabaret acts as part of programming including multiple appearances by The Heart and Dagger Sideshow. Additional alt-stalls and A-grade food trucks will be added from previous years, catering to the extra numbers. Punters are also encouraged to push horror dress limits, with it not uncommon to see zombies, she-devils and monsters walking from stage to stage melding with music fans of all ages.

Dead of Winter Festival organiser Christian Tryhorn says of this year's offering "After a sell out 2017 the decision was made at camp DOW to go large. With the addition of the Tivoli and bands such as Frenzal Rhomb, Polaris and Ocean Grove we've tried to provide the best and most economical day of heavy music in Queensland annually. We've got some amazing bands to come in the second announce and plans in place to grow the festival exponentially from here on in. Grab your tickets now... will be a cracker."

The Dead of Winter returns to Brisbane on Saturday July 07 as Dead of Winter 'Attack of the Two Headed Beast', showcasing 6 stages over The Tivoli and Jubilee Hotel in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

This is an 18+ event.
