After many years of posturing about recording an album of covers, The Screaming Jets & MMM recently announced the recording of a new album, titled “Gotcha Covered- The Great Australian Songbook”. A collection of the bands favorite Aussie tunes to be recorded with the Jets trademark ‘pedal to the metal’ rock n roll character.

The Jets have always been inspired by and continue to support the Aussie Rock music scene since their inception in 1989.  As singer Dave Gleeson once said “The Screaming Jets have always, always always promoted Australian rock’n’roll. Australian rock’n’roll is a mission, it‘s a vocation, it is something that must be a part of your life…”

The Jets have never shied away from playing other peoples songs. From the massive and enduring success early on in their career with the Boys Next Door “Shivers” to long term live staples such as Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” and Barry McGuire’s “Eve of Destruction”

On the eve of their 30th Anniversary in 2019, the Jets will go into the musical bunker to record a bunch of Australian Oz Rock anthems mostly spawned from the 70’s, 80’s & 90’s.  A list of 30+ songs, were recently compiled based on childhood inspiration, radio favorites, some inter-band argy-bargy, universally agreed rip snorting live anthems, and a general musical ‘hat-tipping’ opportunity to their most respected of contemporaries and fellow artists from the last 3 decades.

From this list of 30 odd songs, the Jets put it to their MMM audience to vote on what they would like to see make it on the record. At the time of writing the results are currently starting to filter in. Late March will see the boys hunker down to record these songs for a June 2018 release.

On February 14th  tickets go on sale for Fri 3rd & Sat 4th August at Sydney’s most iconic rock venue The Bridge Hotel in Rozelle . Fans will get a special opportunity to see the boys play these songs live for the first time.

Limited to two shows only at The Bridge, The Jets will showcase the new album over 2 nights.

These 2 shows will be the only time that fans can see the band play 2 sets (with no support), showcasing the “Gotcha Covered” album as well as a full set of the Jets hit, classics and anything else they throw into the mix on the night… As any Jets fan will know, the live shows are unpredictable and frenetic… These will be no exception to the rule…

Tickets to the above 2 Gotcha Covered showcase shows will be available at www.thescreamingjets.com.au from 9.00am on February 14th.
