"...pound for pound, this is their strongest set of songs in years."  **** Q

"Geography may serve as a touchstone for much of Calexico's music, but The Thread That Keeps Us carves out a landscape all its own." NPR

"Calexico have made records that sound like this one before, but they've never made one with quite this much fight in it.” Pitchfork

Finally, after four long years, Australia and New Zealand get the opportunity to host the return of the panoramic musical and lyrical genius of CALEXICO (USA)
The band brings with them the unbridled spirit of their latest critically acclaimed (and ninth) studio album “The Thread That Keeps Us” and a sweet ride through border sound treasures from across their career.
Across nine studio albums, numerous collaborations, movie scores and soundtracks and thousands of shows, Joey Burns and John Convertino and their magnificent band CALEXICO have roamed the world with their unique and stirring “desert noir” sound. CALEXICO make panoramic frontier music that effortlessly crosses borders, cultures and genres and have seamlessly infused the instrumentation, sounds and structures of cumbia, fado, jazz, gypsy, surf, country, spaghetti western epics from the shadows of indie rock into a body of work that is unique and completely intoxicating both live and on record.
Catch them on tour this summer and you’ll be certain ”there is love in the age of the extremes”!
