Bessie, Billie & Dinah! Three pioneering black female vocalists of the early 20th Century,
Their lives cut short, so early, still made their mark in the Musical World leaving us with unforgettable songs of Love, Laughter, Sadness & Hope.

Most people are familiar with Billie Holiday & her music but don’t remember Bessie Smith or Dinah Washington! Do You? Well all three of these ladies music is all around us still to this day.

This show will remind you of who these iconic Musical Giants of the early 20th Century were, some of their stories of life & loves & of their hits songs they left behind before sadly leaving this world all before the age of 45yrs old. Blazing the trail for those that followed.

You probably know their music without realising it. It was Bessie Smith who popularised the famous hit ‘Nobody Knows You When You Are Down & Out’. And that famous song ‘What a Difference A Day Makes’ we all seem to relate to the late Amy Winehouse was made a hit by none other than Dinah Washington, Amy’s ido l. And there are plenty more to hear in the show. Now Billie Holiday needs no explanation I am sure except in this show you will hear upbeat happy blues & deep soulful sad blues she made her own.

Bonnie is drawn to all three of these women & their music for different reasons although she does have a particular infinity with Dinah Washington, even to the point she recorded her first CD and named it after her favourite version of Dinah’s ‘Since I Fell For You’.

Join BONNIE LEE GALEA on voice,
QUINTON DUNNE from The Beggars, on Double Bass & Voice,
RICHARD COATES on Keys &
for the fist time in this show presenting
LAZARO ERNESTO NUMA POMPA from Cuba on Trumpet .

Immerse yourself in an evening of LAUGHTER, SINGING, SURPRISE & a couple of heart wrenching songs. Their music came from life experience which we can all relate to in some way or another.
So let’s relive BESSIE BILLIE & DINAHS’ music in a wonderful night of songs & stories.
