MISSY HIGGINS

Multiple ARIA Award winning Missy Higgins is returning to her spiritual home of Broome on Friday August 25 to play at the Goolarri Amphitheatre, with tickets on sale today.

The Melbourne based singer/songwriter has a well-documented affiliation with Broome, both professionally and personally, and she returns regularly but hasn’t performed in Broome since 2013.

Broome provided inspiration for Missy’s #1 album ‘On A Clear Night’, some of which Missy wrote while living there in 2006.

Missy said, “I've written so many of my songs in Broome and had the most inspiring moments of my life up there. It's truly one of my favourite places on Earth. I can't wait to go back, spend some time in the bush, get my feet dirty in the pindan soil, play guitar under a boab tree and have a mango beer! I'm really looking forward to this gig.

Joining Missy at the show is special guest Lorrae Coffin, a singer songwriter from the Nyiyaparli/Yindjibarndi language group. Lorrae was raised in the west Kimberly region of WA and has been performing and working in the music industry for over 20 years.

On Friday last week Missy released a stand-alone single called ‘Torchlight’ that is a powerful accompaniment to the true story told in the forthcoming Australian movie ‘Don’t Tell’.

‘Don’t Tell’ is the story of a young woman who fought back after enduring sexual abuse at a prestigious private school. With a dogged and determined local lawyer by her side, they took on the powerful church that denied her abuse for over a decade. Based on true events that changed Australian child protection laws, ‘Don’t Tell’ is a poignant story about finding the courage to stand up, speak out and fight against injustice.

The video features Missy performing the emotive piano ballad in Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre, interspersed with footage from the film. You can watch it here.

Currently working on a new album, Missy last toured Australia in November 2016 playing select capital cities on her Orchestral Concert Series which saw Missy fuse her live band with some of Australia’s leading symphony orchestras.

Missy Higgins is one of the most successful and acclaimed female singer/songwriters in Australian music history. She has sold more than two million albums and singles globally, had multiple #1 hits and won 9 ARIA Awards.
