The Charters Towers Rodeo Association is made up of dedicated volunteers – both new and experienced – who work to ensure local representation in the sport of rodeo and the continuation of Charters Towers’ signature event: the Heart of the Goldfields Rodeo.

Held annually in July at the Dalrymple Equestrian Centre, the rodeo is a highlight for local competitors and the wider rural community, offering a chance to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the excitement of rodeo.

The event has grown into a major attraction in North Queensland, consistently selling out and drawing thousands of spectators from across Australia. It has been recognized for its impact and quality, including Community Event of the Year at the 2021 Australia Day Awards and ranking among the top four Australian Professional rodeos in 2023.

 For 2026, the rodeo will continue to expand, featuring live music and entertainment across both Friday and Saturday nights, making it a must-visit event for rodeo fans and families alike.
