The Hotel Metropolitan at 46 Grote Street, adjacent to Her Majesty's Theatre and directly across the road from Adelaide Central Markets is being quietly resurrected to her former art deco glory.
The 25 room hotel building was constructed in 1883 and is typical of Adelaide 19th century hotels with its bluestone construction, chamfered corner and dominant balcony and verandahs.
The Theatre Bar on Pitt and Grote Streets has been polished up to reveal a cool, classy charm. The Coopers triple (Pale Ale, Dark Ale and Lager) on tap as well as Pure Blonde, Cascade Light and Carlton Draught provide enough icy cold flavours to quench any palate.
Grote Street is beaming with welcome outdoor style; a seat to settle on Saturdays after the markets or to catch an evening summer breeze with a cool G & T (Gordon's...of course).
